As a Project Coordinator and Statistical Consultant at the Center for Sexual Health Promotion at Indiana University in Bloomington and the Survey Director for Good in Bed Surveys in New York City, I’m always involved in different research projects.
My Research Interests:
sexual quality; solutions to sexual problems; women’s sexuality; sexual and relationship satisfaction; sexual desire, arousal, and orgasm; maintaining satisfying sex in long term relationships
Active Recruitment for Current Projects
Since my research is often centered around the dyad, many of my recruitment efforts are geared toward collecting data from both members of the couple (not always an easy feat!). However, some studies do have eligibility criteria for people not currently in relationships or for one member of the couple. Check back often, as the studies are constantly changing.
The Couples Study was my dissertation project. It was a
three-wave longitudinal study that included a prospective daily
diary component during the first wave of the study. This study
examined sexual desire and desire discrepancy in long-term
relationships from over 200 couples. The data from this study
are currently being analyzed for my dissertation and the
results from two of the papers will be available in May.
We are grateful for the support for this study provided by a grant from the Patty Brisben Foundation
The Couples Study
Closed Recruitment for Past Projects
These are some of the most recent studies I have been working on. Recruitment is closed for these projects. Results will be available soon and papers from these projects are currently under peer-review.
The Ebb and Flows of Women’s Sexual Desire Study closed recruitment in summer 2011. This study, conducted in collaboration with Dr. Debby Herbenick, was a mixed-method examination of women’s sexual desire in long-term relationships. The results of this study informed the development of The Couples Study. Results from this study have been presented at two academic conferences and there are currently two papers under peer-review from the data collected from this study.
Ebb and Flows of Women’s Sexual Desire Study
I have conducted six surveys with Good in Bed Surveys thus far. Here are the topics of the previous surveys with links to the survey reports for each of them:
Relationship Boredom: this survey examined relationship boredom within the context of committed
relationships and how relationship boredom is linked to sex within those relationships.
> Report
Sexual Adventurousness: this survey examined what types of behavior men and women engage in
or are willing to engage in and the differences between women and men in these preferences
and experiences.
> Report
Orgasm: this survey was conducted in order to understand, in a large quantitative sample, the impact
that orgasm has on the relationship, what sexual behaviors elicit orgasm, and what enhances
or detracts from orgasm.
> Report
Sex and the Holidays: this survey aimed to understand how the schedule-turning and priority-shifting
the holidays bring impacts sex and relationships.
> Report
Date Night: this survey examined the impact (or lack thereof) that scheduling a date-night with a long-
term partner has on the relationship, sex life, and closeness that is felt.
Attitudes Toward Monogamy: this survey examined attitudes toward monogamy in a sample of over
3,000 people who ranged in age from 18 to 65.
>Report forthcoming
We are grateful to K-Y Brand for their support of our survey endeavors, as well as their respect for the independence of our process of inquiry.
